Elder-Fehn Trail

Catamount Ranch Open Space

The vistas of Pikes Peak are continuous, not just along the trail, but also on the drive there. The trail is quite manageable for everyone, though it features a fair number of ascents and descents, particularly at the start. If you can overcome the initial inclines, the effort is truly rewarding, and the path becomes less challenging.

Pro-Tips

  • Parking is free, but does fill up fast during the summer. I do recommend starting earlier in the day. If the parking lot is full, regulars do park alongside the dirt road.

  • There are Port-A-Pottys at the parking lot.

  • Utilize the All-Trails App for guidance along the way, as there are a few tricky spots.

  • Hiking Poles will make the trip back down the steep trail much more doable. I have personally bloodied a few knees with slips and falls.
